Part 1: YOU ARE MISSING GOLD PRODUCTION!
You will notice that for most of these cities there are 21 buildings absent.

The non-water version substitutes 80 gold production for an extra market. The water version loses a couple hundred gold production so that it can have markets (instead of using exclusively harbors). Trust me, if you are on the sea, you'll want carts!
Part 2: Moonstone City
http://www.lou-fcp.co.uk/map.php?
map=L00000000000000000000000000000000D000000000000D000I0I0000000000I0I000N000000N000I0I0OGOFO0I0I00000GLGOFKF00000000OGOGOFOFO00000000OGOGOFOFO0000OGLG0FKFO0000OGOGOFOFO00000000OHOHOHOHO00000000HMHOHMH000000000OHOHO0000000000000000000R000000000000000
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
With this city, you are going to want to balance your resources as carefully as possible. Note that whatever gold production you use, you'll be short, so you'll need extra gold production from somewhere else. And because there are no markets for shipping out resources or warehouses, you'll want to ensure your balance is precise!
Part 3: Stone/Wood City
http://www.lou-fcp.co.uk/map.php?
map=W00000000000000000000000000000000D000000000000D000I0I0000000000I0I000N000000N0000000OFOGO000000000FKFOGLG00000000OFOFOGOGO00000000OFOFOGOGO0000OFKF0GLGOZ000OFOFOGOGO0000Z000OFOFOGOGO00000000FKFOGLG000000000OFOGO0000000D0000000000I0I00000000000000
00N000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
This is your standard city. You should have at least two of these before you build a moonstone city in any new geographically distant location on a continent. These will give you the production to build the other cities listed.
Part 4: Baron City
http://www.lou-fcp.co.uk/map.php?
map=L000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000D00000000000000000I000000000000000W000OGOFO00000PWP0GLGOFKF0000PWP0OGOGOFOFO00000W00OGOGOFOFO0000OGLG0FKFOZ000OGOGOFOFO0000Z000OGOGOFOFO00000000GLGOFKF000000000OGOFO00000000000000000000000000000000000
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Because you build moonstones in a separate location, it only makes sense to have the baron produced optimally. To do this you build a baron city, which drops food production to produce the baron. If you have settled far away, this often is an ideal first city. If you are close, there is no reason, especially if there is a military city with trinsic temples that can do the job 1000% faster.
Part 5: Iron City
http://www.lou-fcp.co.uk/map.php?
map=W00000000000000000000000000000000D000000000000D000I0I0000000000I0I000N000000N0000000OHOHO000I00000HMHOHMH00000000OHOHOHOHO00000000OHOHOHOHO0000OHMH0HMHOZ000OHOHOHOHO0000ZM00OHOHOHOHO0000Z000HMHOHMH000000000OHOHO00000000000000000000000000000000000
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
If you have to ship in resources...you might as well ship in everything and build an iron city, which should be situated right beside either a defense city or an offense city. Close proximity is key.
Part 6: Gold City

map=W0000000000000E0000000000000EJE00000000000000EEE000000000000000EJE000000000EEE00000000000000000000EEEEEEE000000000EJEJEJE000000000EEEEEEEEE0000EJEJ0JEJE0000EEEEEEEEE000000000EJEJEJE0EEE00000EEEEEEEEJE00000000000EEEE0000000EETTEE0000000000EEET00TE
0000000000EJET0000000000000EEEET0000000000000EE0
Self-explanatory. The ultimate low maintenance city. One gives you surplus gold to cover 10 moonstone cities.
Part 7: Offense City
http://www.lou-fcp.co.uk/map.php?
map=L00000000000000Z0I000000000000000N0000000000000000I0I0000000000000000D00000000000000PPPPP000000000PP0P0PP00000000P0PPPPP0P00000000PPP0P0PPP0000P0PP0PP0PXPPPPPP0P0PPP00000P0PP0PPPPP0P00000PPPPP0P0PP00000P0P0PPPPP000000PPP00000D000P0P0000000000I0I0
0PPP00000000000N000000000000000I0Z00000000000000
The 17 open slots are for whatever army you choose to build. Use all 17 for one troop for an ultimate zerg. Divide for a balanced force. Include a few defensive forces if you want something more balanced and you don't have a nearby defensive city. The warehouses are obviously to store your food that will build up while building it or for shipments in when you dont have enough!
Part 8: Defense City

map=L00000000000000Z0I000000000000000N000000000000D000I0I0000000000I0I000D000000N0000000PPPPP0I0Z00000PP0P0PP00000000P0PPPPP0P00000000PPP0P0PPP0000P0PP0PP0PJPPPPPP0P0PPP0000JP0PP0PPPPP0P00000PPPPP0P0PP00000P0P0PPPPP000000PPP00000D0000000000000000I0I0
000000000000000N000000000000000I0Z00000000000000
16 slots instead of 17, as we drop some barracks for extra food production and for two markets. This is a support city for an offensive castle. It has more food and more storage as it is a buffer for the offensive city. It has two markets for transferring it. Two markets are not much...so therefore recognize you want to be close to any offensive city. In the alternative, this is less hardcore offensive city design, with more flexibility for shipping out food and more storage if the army takes longer to build, and longer reserves.
